About us
Editorial standards
How Whispering Verse sources the news, writes its reviews, uses AI assistance, handles conflicts of interest and corrects its mistakes.
Whispering Verse is an independent press that publishes practical advice for writers, along with book news and reviews. This page explains how we work, so you can judge what you read here.
How we source the news
- Every news story is checked against the primary source first: the prize's, publisher's or organisation's own announcement.
- Any claim that is not on the primary source needs a second, independent and reputable outlet. If only one outlet reports something, the story says so.
- Every story lists the sources we opened at the foot of the page, with links.
- We do not copy other outlets' reporting. Quotations are short, marked and attributed.
- If we cannot confirm a story, we do not run it.
How pieces are written
Drafts are prepared with the help of AI tools, working only from the sources we link and the notes our editors write. An editor reads, checks and approves every piece before it is published, and the editors are responsible for everything on the site.
Reviews and conflicts of interest
- Reviews are written from our own reading of the book. Each review says which edition we read.
- We never review books we publish.
- Because we are also a publisher, we may know the people behind other presses. If a review touches someone we work with, the review says so.
- Nobody pays for a review or a verdict, and publishers do not see reviews before they are published.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it on the page, add a dated note at the foot of the piece saying what changed, and update the date shown as modified. To report an error, write to info@whisperingverse.com.
